About the Coptic Church
The Coptic Orthodox Church was founded by St. Mark the Evangelist in about 48 AD when he came to Egypt. The Coptic Orthodox Church is one of the oldest Apostolic churches in the world. The Coptic Orthodox Church (which is also known as the Church of Alexandria) is mentioned in the canons of the Nicean Ecumenical Council of 325 AD as being one of the four ancient apostolic churches. The other churches being: the church of Jerusalem, the church of Rome, and the church of Antioch.
St. Mark is one of the seventy disciples (Luke 10:1). St. Mark's Gospel is the oldest of the four Gospels in the Holy Bible. He started writing his Gospel in Rome and completed it in Egypt. It was in his house that Our Lord Jesus Christ had The Last Supper and where the disciples used to gather for prayer after the resurrection. The Pentecost also took place there (Acts 2:1). St. Mark was martyred for his faith in Egypt in May 7th, 68 AD and his feast is celebrated by the Copts on the 8th of May of each year.
The head of the Coptic Orthodox Church is called the Pope and is considered to be the successor of St. Mark the Evangelist. The clergy is composed of bishops, priests and deacons. The Coptic Church also has several Coptic monasteries and convents both in Egypt and outside of it.

نُعظِّمُكِ يا أمَّ النّورِ الحَقيقىِّ ونُمجِّدكِ أيَّتُها العَذْراءُ القِدّيسةُ والِدةُ الإلهِ لأنَّكِ وَلدْتِ لَنا مُخلِّصَ العالَم، أتَى وخَلَّصَ نُفوسَنا. المجْدُ لكَ يا سَيِّدُنا ومَلكُنا المسيحُ، فَخْرَ الرُّسُل، إكْليلَ الشُهداءِ، تَهْليلَ الصِدّيقينَ، ثَباتَ الكَنائسِ، غُفْرانَ الخَطايا. نُبشِّرُ بالثَّالوثِ القُدّوسِ، لاهوتٌ واحِدٌ نَسجُدُ لهُ ونُمجِّدهُ يا رَبُّ إرْحَم. يا رَبُّ إرْحَم. يا رَبُّ بارِك. آمين.

بالحَقيقَةِ نُؤمِنُ بإلهٍ واحدٍ اللَُّهُ الآبُ ضابطُ الكُلِّ خالِقُ السَّماءِ والأرضِ، ما يُرَى وما لا يُرَى.نُؤمِنُ بربٍّ واحدٍ يَسوعِ المسيحِ إبْن اللهِ الوَحيدِ الموْلودِ مِنَ الآبِ قَبْلَ كلِّ الدُّهورِ. نورٌ مِنْ نورٍ إلهٌ حَقٌ مِنْ إلهٍ حَقٍّ، مَولودٌ غَيْرُ مَخْلوقٍ، مُساوٍ للآبِ فى الجَوْهرِ. الَّذى بِهِ كانَ كلُّ شئٍ. هَذا الَّذى مِنْ أجْلنا نَحنُ البَشَرَ ومِنْ أجْلِ خَلاصِنا نَزلَ مِنَ السَّماءِ وتَجسَّدَ مِنَ الرّوحِ القُّدُسِ، ومِنْ مَرْيَم العَذْراءِ تَأنَّسَ. وصُلبَ عنّا علَى عَهدِ بيلاطُس البنْطى، تألَّمَ وقُبرَ وقامَ مِن بَين الأمْواتِ فى اليَومِ الثّالثِ كَما في الكتُبِ، وصَعِدَ إلَى السَّمواتِ وجَلسَ عَنْ يَمينِ أبيهِ وأيْضاً يَأتي فى مَجدهِ ليُدينَ الأحْياءَ والأمْوات َ، الَّذى لَيسَ لملْكِهِ إنْقِضاءٌ. نَعَم نُؤمِنُ بالرّوحِ القُدُسِ، الرَّبُّ المحْيى المنْبَثقِ مِنَ الآبِ نَسْجُد لهُ ونُمجِّدهُ مَعَ الآبِ والإبْنِ النّاطِقِ فى الأنْبياءِ. وبكنيسَةٍ واحِدَةٍ مُقدَّسةٍ جامعَةٍ رسوليَّةٍ، ونَعْترِفُ بمَعْموديَّةٍ واحِدَةٍ لمغْفِرَةِ الخَطايا. وننْتَظرُ قِيامَةَ الأمْواتِ وحَياةَ الدَّهرِ الآتى. آمين.

The Creed

We exalt you, the Mother of the True Light. We glorify you, O saint and Mother of God, for you brought forth unto us the Saviour of the whole world. He came and saved our souls.
Glory to Thee, our Master, our King, Christ. The pride of the Apostoles, the crown of the martyrs, the joy of the righteous, the firmness of the churches, the forgiveness of sins.
We proclaim the Holy Trinity in One Godhead. We worship Him. We glorify Him. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord bless. Amen

we believe in one God, God the Father the pantocrator,Who created the heaven and earth,and of all things seen and unseen.We believe in One Lord Jesus christ,The only Begotten son of God,Begotten of the father before all ages.Light of Light;True God of true God,begotten,not created;of one essence with the father,by whom all things were created.Who,for us men and for our salvation,came down from the heaven and was incarnate of Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,and bacame man.And He was crucified for us under pontious pilate,suffered,and was buried.And the third day He rose from the dead,according to ures;and ascended into heaven ,and sits at the right hand of His Father.And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead,whose kingdom shall have no end.And we believe in the Holy spirit,the Lord,the Giver of life,Who proceeds from the Father ;Who with the Father and theson is worshipped and glorified,Who spoke by the prophets in one Holy katholik and Apostolic Church.We confess one baptism for the remission of sins.We look for the resurrection of the dead ,and the life of the world to come.
